A Convergence of Raw Expression
More than a collective; a movement
Art and literature in Nigeria have often been confined by traditional expectations of “beauty.” We founded The Ugly Collective to break those molds. We believe that raw, unfiltered, and even uncomfortable expressions are necessary for a true cultural evolution.
Our group consists of eight multidisciplinary creators—from poets and novelists to visual artists and digital designers. By merging our different mediums, we create a unified voice that speaks to the complexity of the modern Nigerian experience.
We don’t just create; we provoke dialogue and foster a space where Nigerian artists can be their most authentic selves without apology.
